About

Built in Malawi, for the businesses here.

Freddia started with a simple frustration: the accounting software available to Malawian businesses was either built for somewhere else, or built decades ago — and none of it talked to MRA.

The story

A name, and a reason.

Freddia is named for the founder's parents — Fredrick and Diya. It is a small business built by someone who has watched small businesses here do their books on paper, in spreadsheets, and in software that never quite fit.

When the Malawi Revenue Authority made electronic invoicing mandatory, that gap stopped being an inconvenience. Businesses suddenly needed a system that could fiscalise a sale in real time — and most of the tools they had could not do it at all.

So Freddia does the whole job: invoicing, payroll, banking, reports and EIS compliance in one place, priced in Kwacha, with an AI assistant that reads your actual ledger. Not a foreign product with Malawi bolted on, but one built here from the first line.

What we hold to

Four things we will not trade away.

01

Compliance is not a premium feature

MRA e-invoicing is a legal obligation, not an upsell. It ships on every plan, in full, including multiple terminals. Charging extra for the law would be the wrong business to be in.

02

Built for Kwacha, not converted to it

PAYE brackets, VAT rules, withholding tax, mobile money, the fiscal calendar — these are the defaults, not a localisation layer bolted onto software designed elsewhere.

03

The books stay honest

Double-entry underneath everything, an audit trail on every change, and an AI that reads your real ledger rather than guessing. Nothing is written you did not approve.

04

Your data is yours

Export any report, any time, in formats your accountant and your bank already accept. There is no lock-in worth having.

Where to find us

A small team, reachable directly.

No call centre and no ticket queue — you reach the people building the thing. If something is broken or missing, that is genuinely useful to hear.
